◊ The Bike Steering Committee  John has a group of enthusiastic volunteers to support his efforts to promote cycling on the local, provincial, and national scene. Want to be involved?

Ride the Riding Last year, John inaugurated “Ride the Riding”, an opportunity for riders to join him in wheeling around the vast, majestic constituency he represents.

Bike Day on the Hill John organized  the first ever Bike Day on Parliament Hill where various people and organizations came together to promote cycling and safety.

National Health and Fitness Day  Inaugurated by John for the first Saturday of June each year. Local governments across Canada are invited to open their sports and recreational facilities at a reduced rate to encourage Canadians in physical activities.

John bikes to work (and everywhere else he can) and represents the riding which hosted 70% of the sites for the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics

John Spoke at the  Velo-city Conference on June 28th, 2012.

Here is his message :

On behalf of the Government of Canada and myself as a fellow cyclist, I am delighted to be here with the organizers, sponsors, and participants of Velo-City  in Vancouver! One thing you’ll learn when you’re here – British Columbians love  the  outdoors and even more, love to share it with the world. I hope you’ll have the chance to take a spin, not only around Vancouver, but around the many other bike-friendly parts of our province.

There are several upcoming biking opportunities in the area, such as the BC Bike Race in July; the RBC Whistler Gran Fondo in September, and the second year of my “Ride the Riding”.  You may also want to try out some of the routes along the Sea to Sky Highway, which covers some of the choicest parts of “the most beautiful place on earth”, as I like to call the area I represent.

However you choose to experience BC, I thank you for your love of cycling, your commitment to health and fitness, and your support for environmentally friendly transportation.

With best regards,

John Weston, M.P. for West Vancouver – Sunshine Coast –Sea to Sky Country

MP John Weston welcomes you to join the ride:  Ride The Riding 2.0
